Looks like I see blue herons everywhere these days.
Another beautiful sunset at Ste-Luce-sur-mer.
Please note, I used Picturesque on this shot, this is where the light frame and subtle shadow around it is coming from.

Crosses always add a little something to a picture. They alter the mood, provide a new dimension.
I did two versions of the one found at Ste-Luce-sur-mer, a very old cemetery. Did also other pictures in that location, that I will show later.
The first one was shot in the morning:

It is a very colorful, easy going, type of place.
And the seafood… Should write a whole article about it.

Even tough we were going at the jardins de Métis for the flowers (other articles to come on the subject), I saw some good opportunities to shoot insects.
For the occasion, I used my Sigma 105 mm macro and the Nikon SB-900 with a warm gel, in wireless mode. Did also use the D90 integrated flash, along with Gary Fong’s Puffer .
Had to config flashes with a -7 compensation (ITTL mode), the sun was really strong. Light not easy to work with, did learn a lot that morning.
Please take note that I am not an expert when comes to talk about insects (and flowers for that matter). I had to research and asked for help to identify my victims. It is quite possible that I am wrong, in such case don’t hesitate to let me know.
Let’s start with a red dragonfly, most probably a crimson-ringed whitheface.
Don’t forget to click on the images to see them bigger…

And then an azure damselfly.

And to finish, a lovely spider, sorry, could not find its kind.

Pictures of the flowers of “jardin des Métis” to follow soon.

Each day during our stay at Ste-Luce sur Mer, we saw that bird at least 3 times.
It seemed to have made a particular rock, really close to were we stayed, its home base.

On some occasions, we would see two herons, that was not the norm.
Several herons pictures to come, that were such good subjects.

Here is a killdeer bird, on one of Ste-Luce-sur-mer beaches.

I have been trying for a long time to make a decent shot of this bird, well distributed in our province.
Difficulty was, here at home, that I would meet them mainly on the golf courses.
Looks like these birds can quickly sense a golfer abilities, they take off rapidly in my presence.
Here is a juvenile, pretty good camouflage skills.

Here in Ste-Luce, they are not scared: they don’t get to see me with my 7 iron in my hands.
