Another beautiful model…

And that model is me :-)

I love to do self-portraits, it is an exercise that is not always easy to perform, requires imagination and a good technique.

For example, for the picture below, I spent a good 45 minutes to shoot it, all alone. You should have seen the face of people walking by…

Nikon D90
Exposure : 1/20
Aperture : f/5.6
ISO: 160
Focal Length : 50mm (Lensbaby Composer)
Aperture, Topaz Denoise 3 and Nik SilverEfx .
Flash SB-900 with diffusor

It was not straight forward to climb into that wire mesh structure, lots of metal pieces threatening to shred my pants. Since I was working in full manual mode, to achieve proper focus, I had to improvise a technique. I placed a piece of plastic where my face was meant to be. Then I slid in that metal tunnel, got my mark, took a few shots using a remote control, come out of that thing, verify results, went back in the tube to redo the sequence, over and over.

There was a lot to be learned.

Different story for the following one, all it took was 5 minutes, shooting from the hip, a cool trick to master.

Nikon D90
Exposure : 1/30
Aperture : f/9.5
ISO: 1000
Focal length : 50mm (75 DX)
Aperture, Topaz Denoise 3 and Nik SilverEfx

For those who likes to see self-portraits, don’t miss ChernobylBob on flickr.
