A little break from the iPhone, the long post processing sessions, the big setups. Just a simple shot of a common house sparrow.
The calm before the storm…

Unfortunately, not as much as the males for the Red-winged Blackbird.
Took me some time to find her specie as there is such a difference between the specimen sexes.

Lately I have discovered 3 image processing techniques: the “Textures-Vintage”, “Grunge” and “Hand tint”.
In order to become more efficient with these styles, I started looking for a concept allowing me to work on a series of images.
I have produced an image of an owl 2 weeks ago and received positive feedback. So, here is the concept: extract the animals from their cage or pen.
The week-end last, I went back to the Ecomuseum and took several images of the animals.
Producing an image like the present one, requires a lot work, at least 4 hours of “post production”.
I discovered a passion for the digital pen and tablet and now have a nice photo series in the making.

The Ecomuseum is a wonderful place to take images of wild animals.
One problem; there are some many beautiful images taken from that spot, it is hard to be original, so even if I go there often, it is close to home, I don’t published much photos.
Now that I am learning more and more about Pixelmator, texture and the Wacom digital tablet, the door is open for different interpretations.

A group of Whimbrel
Vacations souvenir, a group of Whimbrel (french:Courlis corlieu – Numenius phaeopus), these birds are really hard to approach. We met them on the beaches of Sainte-Luce-sur-Mer.
On that day, thanks to a thick fog and lots of patience, I was able to get relatively close to them.
Thanks a million for your visits and comments.

Yesterday we had a photo outing at Montreal botanical garden with a couple of Flicker friends. Felt so good to talk about photography with people sharing the same passion.
A million thanks to Sarah-Vie for the organization.
During the afternoon we came across a nice cormorant that was feeding on small fishes on a pound. A very particular bird.
As we approach the creature, we soon realize it was not “camera shy” and seem to enjoy the experience.
A bit after the session with the bird was over, I realized that I crawled on birds dropping…
No pain, no gain…

The vacations are soooooo nice.
Today a little bit of rain, good, I can take some time to write this post.
In addition to cycling, we are taking a lot of walks along the sea shore. It is full of life.
Here is a juvenile Killdeer, then again I may be wrong… I am not an expert…

There is a bird of prey on the Horizon that caught the eye of Rubis.
Easier to see if you enlarge the image by clicking on it.

Did I ever tell you how much I love the 50mm lens? I know, I know, I repeat myself. Seriously what a lens.
