His passion for fishing is incredible.
So, he is well prepared for the toxicity of the Saint-Lawrence waters.
And he does not eat his catches, which are glowing in the dark.

I know this may be hard to believe but here the story goes: during a fly fishing session at the lake Rognon (Vendée), I had all the trouble of the world to catch fish.
The day was really, really hot, better suited for swimming than fishing. Anyway, a bass with what seemed to be a strange mass on its back came around my fly, 3-4 times from underneath the water, around 3 or 4 feet deep.
I was going nowhere fishing wise and decided to trade my fishing rod for my camera, to try to get an image of the fish. I have put liquid silicone on one of my flies and dropped it on the water with no line.
After 10 minutes, the fish reappeared, still to deep to be caught on camera. Another 10 minutes passed, I was sweating like being in a sauna and was close to quit, when from nowhere, the bass jumped over the water as if he tried to taunt me. By sheer reflexes, I was able to take a single shot.
When it happened I didn’t have time to realize what went on, Man, what a surprise when a start to process the image to find that the fish was wearing a hat! Totally incredible, insane!
I thought I have seen many things in my life, but a bass with a hat…
On that note, I think I need a good scotch.

A great outing yesterday morning, ice fishing with my friend Pierre on lake Saint-Louis.
I have been following Pierre on twitter and facebook for a year now, I really enjoy his particular sense of humor and the fishing stories (with pictures).
On the lake at 6:00 am…
It has been a good catch (according to my standards, which are lower than my friends) but above all, it was great to finally meet Pierre.
Now, there is a super meal of perch and walleye filets awaiting me.

Return to civilization after a wonderful week-end at our friends, André and Francine, splendid chalet at Vendée.
Completely “off the grid”. No cell phone working, iPhone powered off.
I took this picture Saturday, fly fishing for small mouth bass on a pedalo.
Fishing was good and the light was king…
A million thanks to our hosts.

While ice fishing at Pointe-des-Cascades, the skies in this late afternoon became very surreal. Clouds appeared like waves on the ocean…
The plane is preparing to land to Pierre-Elliott Trudeau airport (YUL) roughly 10 kilometers ahead.

Did a little visit to the dock of place Datura, Ile-Perrot, yesterday, to admire another beautiful sunset and chat with the people there.
On spot, a few fishermen and among them, Frédérick Baker, who caught his first lake sturgeon.

Can’t say this is a beautiful fish, mother nature didn’t really cooperate on that one.
After the pictures were taken, Frédérik released his sturgeon, it quickly went back to the depth of Lake St-Louis.

A fact remain, this is a very interesting fish, “left over” of a prehistoric era.
According to the experts on site, the beast was weighing 8 pounds, age between 10 and 15.
Quote from his friends, Frédérik is no longer a “Sturgeon virgin”.
