Stéphanie is a pro. For about 2 years now, we do short photo shooting, every now and then. Each time she surprises me with her ease in front of the lens.

Here is the flower girl of a wedding I did last year. We were on the floor of a brightly lit corridor, I was armed with my 50mm lens, waiting for the bride to get dressed. The little really wanted me to take her photo, so easy to shoot under such circumstances.
I had this image waiting for post processing for months…

During the last Quebec winter Games, while I was assigned at the women’s weightlifting competition (girls between 13 and 17 years old), there was one aspect of the technique that fascinated me.
During a lift, for a fraction of a second, their bodies were leaving the ground, amazing considering the weight they were handling.

Val received a nice gift for her birthday, a superb Chapka hat (sorry could not find an english hyperlink for it), hand made, a creation of Madame Michelle Gendron from Rigaud.
Of course, a photo session was in order, we went at the “Pointe-du-Moulin” (Ile-Perrot), very pleasant as usual even if we came back we both our feet wet…

A little training before the Quebec winter games, to be held in the beautiful region of Valleyfield.
For those of you who didn’t know, I will be part of the team of volunteer photographs who will cover the games, games set to begin this week-end.
I have received my accreditation, so I will be able to go anywhere on the sites. Of course I must produce images for the event I’ll be assigned to. It appears that I will be covering female and male ice hockey, four events in my case. We must take picture of the event and the medal ceremony. We then upload a maximum of 30 images, this has to be done before 23:00 each day, so the images that will be retained will appear on the official Quebec games WEB site the next day.
Can hardly wait for the fun to begin.
It’s a Goal!

It has been a while since I have done a shot like this. You meet someone in the streets, ask permission to immortalize them and then carry on to the next image.
I am not sure the little boy appreciated my presence.
I did this shot with a Sigma 10-20 lens, property of my good friend John-Robert. I had a blast with that lens, really love the distortion it creates on the perimeter of the image.

I am pretty sure I will hear about the title when Val sees it, nevertheless that is what she is aiming for at University, but this title is SEO friendly…
This is one of the first pics I process with Aperture 3. Love that tool even if it takes a lot of resources, the adjustment tools are so smooth.
Thanks to Flickr, I would like to present you a slide show of Valérie. It is kind of her electronic Portfolio.
Thanks for all the images Valou.

Pappy René and his little one…
Photography speaking, I did the whole shooting of the ceremony with only one lens, the 50mm 1.8. There was a lot of light in the church, still I used the built-in flash covered by a Puffer (Gary Fong).
With that lens, you have to move a lot and get closer to the subject. It is another way to shoot, a different mind set, well worth the effort to be mastered!
