Just found this new technique, (well, at least new to me) call NIR, for the creation of “pseudo” infrared images. A pretty cool process.

I love the touch of “unrealism” this brings.

If there is a cat that is getting older with style, it’s Ti-Prout, what a fur ball!

Posted by: fmeehan   in Animals, Ile-perrot, Montreal, Photography, dog

Second test of B&W Effects from Topaz Labs.

Unfortunately, I forgot to ask the name of my victim to it’s master :-(

Here is approximately, the recipe that I used in the application:

Opalotype collection – Hand tinted cream – Creative effects: Simplify – Local Adjustment: Dodge on the eye – Colour

I was not supposed to publish this image due to the vulgarity of the gesture (it is called a “schocker” please consult an teenager near you for more explanation), at the same time I found something about the expression, a cross between “I don’t care” and a bit of provocation.

Since I like expression that are out of the ordinary…

It is shocking!

Like father like son

Posted by: fmeehan   in Montreal, Photography, Self, familly & Friends, people, portrait

Here we are, my son Cédric joined the Canadian forces Saturday. A big change in his life, in our life.

Before taking him to the base, we promised each other we would do a photo shoot, if there is a time when my son and I really enjoy being together, it is during these wild photo sessions. Cédric is not a model, rather an accomplice.

Furthermore, my daughter Val took the shot and my wife Lise was in the background, supervising, a real family affair.

We did the shot under a railway bridge in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue. With our “look of the day”, tree flashes and a ladder, we didn’t go “unnoticed”.

To be noted, neither my son and I are smokers, it was part of my concept. Cédric was a bit “greenish” at the end. Thank God, he brought some Halls lozenges, what a nasty taste, berk.

The concept: Cédric wanted to make it’s entry to the base with the longest possible hairs, so the army barber could have a good time. I also spotted a wig at the “Dollar” store that strangely fitted the length and colour of Cédric. Bingo…

I can’t stop looking at this image, you will understand that it means a lot to me.

Good luck my Son, I am so proud of you…

Be my, be my Baby…

During last week-end party, we witnessed a beautiful and a “little unusual” version of “be my, be my baby” :-)

Tania, you are unique!

A nice surprise!

Posted by: fmeehan   in Montreal, Photography, familly & Friends, people, portrait, texture, textures

Saturday last, my friend Tania invited us for her annual summer party. What a nice crowd, I was really please to see beautiful Tania. A surprise was awaiting us.

It began when Bobby, Tania’s Boyfriend, asked me if I brought my camera, it was in the car, so he suggested me to go grab it, that Tania would like to see it. I didn’t suspect anything.

And then suddenly, we are told to get ready for a surprise show and here we are, Christine started a nice demonstration of baladi dance. I must be careful in what I am writing, Lise is looking behind my shoulder. Let’s just say, while I was taking photos, I had to remove my glasses, too much fog got accumulated in them.

Many thanks to Tania and Bobby for a really nice party and to Christine for such a nice display of her skills.

La belle surprise!

I have noticed that post for a while, it is situated right in front of my favourite “Dépanneur”.

Since I had my Nikon with me and the sky was filled with nice clouds, I decided that today was the day.

When you are shooting and you want to get the max from a session, you completely forget about the surroundings. In search of the best composition, I stuck myself against the post, then got on my knees, move back, well you see what I mean, it last a good 5 minutes.

When I finished shooting, I heard someone laughing in my back. Another client from the store just finish his cigarette and seemed to have enjoy the show :-) He told me: “Wow, you really take it seriously”, all I could reply was “Yes and it didn’t cost me much”, I took off, hearing the guy laughing still.

Moment embarrassant
