A nice surprise!

Posted by: fmeehan   in Montreal, Photography, familly & Friends, people, portrait, texture, textures

Saturday last, my friend Tania invited us for her annual summer party. What a nice crowd, I was really please to see beautiful Tania. A surprise was awaiting us.

It began when Bobby, Tania’s Boyfriend, asked me if I brought my camera, it was in the car, so he suggested me to go grab it, that Tania would like to see it. I didn’t suspect anything.

And then suddenly, we are told to get ready for a surprise show and here we are, Christine started a nice demonstration of baladi dance. I must be careful in what I am writing, Lise is looking behind my shoulder. Let’s just say, while I was taking photos, I had to remove my glasses, too much fog got accumulated in them.

Many thanks to Tania and Bobby for a really nice party and to Christine for such a nice display of her skills.

La belle surprise!

William

What a day yesterday was. We went through a series of emotions.

From a visit to the cemetery in the morning, to a reunion with a pretty old friend.

I didn’t thought I would do a lot of pictures, the occasions kept coming on.

I will have some nice pic to show this week, starting with William, son of our nephew Maxim.

In addition to manipulate the washing line, being on the phone solving important problems, there was another batch of dirty laundry in the machine, spaghetti sauce simmering and an apple cake in the oven…

For the curious: Yes, these are my boxers

For the crooked mind: They are size “small”

Here is a second version of Jessica’s portrait session.

More sober, more classical than the first one…

Playing with my shadows has always been a source of fun, at very low costs :-)

I am still hooked on the iPhone app Snapseed. Can’t get my hands off it.

Here is my nephew Sébastien, a Die hard fan of NOFX (and I mean it, I have listened to it for 2 days!).

It might be better than disco, oh Man I am happy to get back to my normal musical habits :-)

Beautiful Jessica…

Let me introduce you the Beautiful Jessica. She is Val’s best friend.

She is also in a way, our second daughter.

She asked me to do her portrait, how could I refuse?

The only problem is that while working on this image, I could not stop thinking that when she was 10, I was her soccer coach and when I see the pretty women she has become, I seriously feel old.

I hope she will need another portrait soon…

Here we go, a first image produced with the new Mac. My 2 little sisters smiling.

Wow! It is so nice, what an increase in performance. I really enjoy my new MacBook Pro.

Don’t be afraid little girl…

Posted by: fmeehan   in Kids, Montreal, Photography, iPhone, people, portrait

Another one of those little magic moments. As we entered a store in Pointe-Claire Village (Montreal’s West island), we noticed this cute little girl who seem to be afraid of something. I engaged conversation with her Mom who told me her daughter is scared of one of the “old ladies” mannequins found in the store. I asked the Mother permission to take pictures of the little girl, talked to the young lady and after 30 seconds I knew I had something good “in the box”.

There is a lot of advantages to shoot with a cell phone in public spaces, for one, it is stealthier than a DSLR, folks are less intimidated by it.

I spent a good 2 hours in post processing within the phone, trying all kinds of different versions.

So cool to work with beautiful material.
