Deception
“Temporary defeat never spells total failure; one victory never assures permanent success”, line from a poem by William Arthur Ward.
This is test no. 3 of Topaz Labs B&W Effects.
I kept this image in my “reserve”, didn’t know how to approach the processing at the time.
It was taking during a women weightlifting competition at the last Quebec winter games.

The Cerberus
My first day, first photo assignment as volunteer photograph for the Quebec winter games, is over. What an experience.
I shot 5 games of Women hockey. The started at 6:00 to travel to Sainte-Martine arena and ended at 23:00 to upload my selection. I estimate having taken about 1500 images. On the lot, I gave about 40 to the game committee and kept 5 for my blog.
It was cold and humid in the building, I am a wreck this morning, what a great this has been. It is not easy ligthing conditions, we can’t use flashes. You feel a great shot coming, you freeze the golden moment just to realize a player passed in front of the lens at the same time
Still, I have some great shots out of it.
A million thanks to my friend John-Robert who lend me his Nikkor 80-200 2.8 lens, that is “PRO” material, unbelievable quality, wow!
How do you like my Cerberus?
I be back at it Wednesday and Friday, this time, Men’s hockey.
By the way, here are my images that were selected by the games committee (the first 6 pages)

Ti-prout 2-4
I took this picture on lunch break while working at a customer site on Montreal’s West Island. Must get these legs moving from time to time.
This bridge has a superb structure, full of photographic opportunities. It links the Island of Montreal with the town of Vaudreuil.
For this image, I have fused a beautiful texture from Tanya Felsheim in “Linear Burn” mode.
I do a lot of work with textures but publish very little. I find the line between something sharp and something “berk” being very thin. But I keep on trying.

No water!
No water!
What a day I had. You know that kind of a day when you have a crazy plan in your head, and you actually realise it.
Plan no. 1: Let’s do a long ride on the bike. Well I treat myself, 95 kilometers from my place to the Turcotte bridge, south of Valleyfield. Rough ride has I had my second flat in a week. I had lot of energy but the back hurts a little tonight, no problem, a warm bath should fix that.
Plan no. 2: Tests of panoramic photo software on the iPhone. That was a good exercice and the winner is “Pano” from Debacle software.
When you shoot, the program display as a guide, the extreme right portion of the last shot, so you use it as a calc to match what you see in the iphone lens to do the next image, and so on.
For this pic, I took 5 images.
Don’t forget to click on the image, then on “all size” and then select “Original”.
When we say that the water level are low in our region… This image image was created on the higway 20, west of Montreal, on the bridge that seperate Pincourt to Dorion.
